Ingredients

  • 29 g Water
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 1 fresh Mint Sprigs
  • 1.9 g fresh Ginger Root, thinly sliced (adjust based on how strong you like the ginger flavor)
  • 1 cup fresh Strawberries, halved
  • 0.5 cup cubed Honeydew
  • 0.5 cups cubed Cantaloupe
  • 3 oz Sparkling water
  • Soda Machine¬†(any kind!)

Instructions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine the water, honey, ginger and mint. Warm over medium heat until the honey is fully dissolved into the water, stirring occasionally. Allow the mint and ginger to infuse the syrup for up to 15 mins on low simmer.

Step 2

Once the syrup is cooled, strain and filter into a sealable container and store in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Step 3

To make your Melon Ginger Fizz, combine a mixture of cantaloupe, honeydew, and strawberries to each tall glass, then pour 2-3 oz of the ginger mint syrup to each glass. Top your glass off with fresh, homemade sparkling water from your soda maker and gently stir to combine. Garnish with fresh mint and serve immediately.

When Are Melons in Season?

Melons are typically in season during the warm summer months from June to September when they reach their peak sweetness and flavor. This is the best time to buy melons for your mocktails, as they will be at their juiciest and most flavorful. Additionally, sourcing melons during this period often means they are fresher and have traveled shorter distances to reach your table, making them a more sustainable choice. Keep an eye out at your local farmers' market for the freshest seasonal produce.

Making Sparkling Water at Home

Making sparkling water at home is not only cost-effective but also a fun way to enhance your beverages. By using a soda maker, like the one mentioned earlier, you can easily carbonate plain water with the push of a button. To create the fizz, all you need are CO2 canisters specifically designed for your soda maker model. These canisters are readily available online or in stores where soda makers are sold. When it's time to refill, join the Soda Sense CO2 Refill Club and start exchanging CO2 a better way!

With a fresh, bubbly base, your Melon Ginger Fizz will be all the more refreshing and custom-tailored to your desired level of carbonation. Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe handling and replacement of the CO2 canisters.
