When Are Blackberries in Season?

Blackberries typically burst onto the scene in late summer, with their peak season falling between June and September. During these months, you can find them flourishing in farmers' markets and grocery stores, boasting an irresistible freshness. Grab a punnet (or two!) in these months to experience their full, sweet-tart, juicy glory. However, thanks to modern farming techniques, you can usually find frozen blackberries year-round in supermarkets. So, no matter the season, you can always add a pop of blackberry brilliance to your homemade soda!

Can I Use Store-Bought Sparkling Water?

While you can certainly use store-bought sparkling water in a pinch, we'd always recommend the homemade variety from your trusty soda maker for the best fizzy experience. There's something incredibly satisfying about crafting your soda from scratch, plus you control the level of carbonation, making it tailored to your preference. So, while store-bought sparkling water will do the trick, nothing beats the effervescence and freshness of sparkling water straight from your soda maker.

How To Make Blackberry Lime Fruit Roll-Ups

To maximize the utility of your ingredients, consider crafting a sustainable and eco-conscious recipe. Meet the Blackberry Lime Fruit Roll-Ups – a delightful treat free from artificial additives and dyes that even adults can relish. Discover the straightforward steps to create this family-friendly, delectable concoction.

To make homemade Blackberry Lime Fruit Roll-Ups, start by blending the leftover blackberry and lime pulp from your syrup-making process. Optionally, add a touch of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Spread this puree onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, aiming for a thin, 1/8 to 1/4 inch layer. Dry the fruit leather in the oven at the lowest temperature, typically 140-170°F (60-75°C), with the oven door slightly ajar to release moisture. This drying process takes 4 to 8 hours, depending on thickness and drying method. When it's no longer sticky but still pliable, peel it from the parchment paper, cool it, cut it into desired shapes, and store it in an airtight container or wrap it individually in parchment paper. Your homemade Blackberry Lime Fruit Roll-Ups can be kept at room temperature for a week or two or refrigerated for extended shelf life.
