Is Sparkling Apple Cider Good For You?

Traditional apple cider can be healthy, but more commonly than not, store-bought cider is far from healthy. Sore-bought ciders tend to be laden with added sugars and artificial flavors—not exactly the poster child of health. That's where our sparkling apple cider steps in. By using a soda machine and simple, natural ingredients like unfiltered apple cider vinegar, unsweetened apple juice, and maple syrup, you're creating a beverage that's not only refreshingly fizzy but also brimming with health benefits.

What Are The Benefits Of Combining Apple Cider Vinegar With Sparkling Water?

Sparkling apple cider boasts several health benefits, particularly when homemade with our recipe. The primary ingredient, apple cider vinegar, is known for its potential to aid digestion and control blood sugar levels. Meanwhile, the unsweetened apple juice delivers a healthy dose of vitamins and antioxidants, and the cinnamon adds a dash of anti-inflammatory properties to the mix. Best of all, you can adjust the sweetness with a natural sweetener like maple syrup, making this a customizable health drink.

Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar

Our homemade sparkling apple cider recipe contains unfiltered apple cider vinegar, which is the star ingredient and boasts numerous health benefits. It aids in digestion, regulates blood sugar, and even contributes to weight loss. Additionally, the 'mother' found in unfiltered vinegar is an excellent source of probiotics.

Unsweetened Apple Juice

Although we all know that fruits are beneficial for our health, unsweetened apple juice elevates it to another level. It preserves the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants found in apples, providing a health boost without the added sugars.

Maple Syrup

Maple syrup isn't merely a sweetener in our sparkling apple cider; it's also a source of antioxidants and minerals like zinc and manganese. Also, it's a natural and healthier alternative to refined sugar.

Ground Cinnamon

Cinnamon, a humble spice, brings a powerful touch to your sparkling cider. Renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties, it also aids in regulating blood sugar levels. Not only that, it imparts a delightful warmth and spicy essence to the beverage.

Is Apple Cider Soda?

No, apple cider is not considered to be soda. While traditional apple cider is a non-carbonated beverage made from pressed apples, with a little bit of creativity and the right equipment, you can transform it into a sparkling apple cider soda. This homemade version gives you control over the ingredients, allowing you to craft a healthier, less sugary soda alternative that's just as refreshing and flavorful as its mass-produced counterpart. So, not only do you get to enjoy the zesty fizz of soda, but you also reap the health benefits of apples - it's a win-win!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I use any kind of apple juice for this recipe?

You certainly can! While we recommend unsweetened apple juice to keep the drink low on added sugars, the beauty of this recipe is its adaptability. You're welcome to use your favorite kind of apple juice-- just remember, the sweeter the juice, the less maple syrup you might need.

2. Can I prepare the cider in advance?

Yes, you can prepare the base mix of the cider in advance. Simply combine the vinegar, apple juice, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon—which can be stored in the fridge. However, to experience the full fizzy delight of sparkling apple cider, it's best to add the sparkling water and garnish just before serving. This way, you'll ensure optimal freshness and effervescence!

3. Can I use a sweetener other than maple syrup?

Absolutely! While we love the natural sweetness and mineral benefits of maple syrup, this recipe is all about flexibility. Feel free to swap it out with honey, agave syrup, or even a sugar substitute like stevia if you prefer. Just remember to adjust to your taste preference and dietary needs.

4. Can this recipe be made without a soda machine?

Yes, this recipe can certainly be made without a soda machine. Instead of using a soda machine, you can simply buy pre-made sparkling water from the store. Although this is not recommended due to the added sugars and artificial ingredients found in store-bought sparkling water.

5. I don't like the taste of apple cider vinegar. Can I leave it out?

While apple cider vinegar certainly gives this drink its signature tang and provides a plethora of health benefits, we understand that it might not be everyone's cup of tea (or in this case, cup of cider). But don't worry, if you're not a fan, you can definitely give it the ole' heave-ho! The recipe will still yield a refreshing and effervescent drink with the sweetness of apples and the warmth of cinnamon. Alas, it's important to note that if you do opt out of the vinegar, your health benefits will be a bit on the lighter side, but hey, it's better than nothing!

Is Apple Cider Carbonated?

Apple cider can be either still or carbonated, depending on the type you buy or how you prepare it at home. Traditionally, apple cider is a non-alcoholic, non-carbonated beverage made from freshly squeezed or pressed apples. However, sparking apple cider, which is carbonated, has gained popularity for its bubbly, festive appeal. Whether you prefer still or sparkling, both versions offer the sweet, tangy flavor of fresh apples, making them a perfect ingredient for your holiday mocktails.

How Do You Make Sparkling Water?

Making sparkling water at home is quite the breeze, especially when you have a soda machine at your disposal. To begin with, fill the soda machine's bottle with cold, filtered water up to the fill line. Make sure not to overfill, as we want space for all those delightful bubbles. Attach the bottle to the soda machine and turn the machine on. Now, here comes the fun part - pressing the button to carbonate the water. The more you press, the fizzier your water gets, so go ahead and give it a few good pushes until you've reached your desired level of fizz. And voila, you now have your homemade sparkling water, ready to be used in your Sparkling Apple Cider or enjoyed on its own!
